The Story Behind The Music

Old Head Records™ was started in 1999 in Griffin, GA to provide a creative outlet for teens and young adults. It was established as an alternative to juvenile deliquency, high school drop out and incarceration. Truly originating from the streets, the story of Old Head Records and its artists has not been a fly by night, rags to riches tale. On the contrary, it has been a genuine test of wills. The task of educating and refining creative skills has not been an easy undertaking. Like any startup, the early years were turbulent and uncertain, however, the label and a core group of artists have remained committed to making good music while making a difference. For over 10yrs Old Head Records have reached out to the youth and begun the process of positively redirecting many of them who live the only way they know how...by the code of the streets. Follow us in perhaps the labels final year (2011) as we devoteuntold time, energy andother resources toward making it to the Majors.

Over the years, the company has diversified its services to include: Dj Services, Event Planning, Graphic Design, Screen Printing, Marketing and Promotion as well as other supporting services. Old Head Records is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Old Head Entertainment™. Due to continued growth and expansion, the artists of Old Head Records have been performing regularly in the Atlanta and Chicago regions, steadily becoming household names in both markets. The label and the artists that have stood the tests of time are still works in progress, however, they are within an arms reach of the sweet taste of success. The founder and members have claimed 2011 to be the season they achieve success in the entertainment industry.

Since its start-up the label has grown into two distinct regional divisions: Old Head Records Atlanta (Old Head Slang Bangaz TM) and Old Head Records Chicago (Old Head StoneKuttaz TM). The Atlanta Division operates from its base in Griffin, Georgia and the Chicago Division is strategically located in Elkhart, Indiana (formerly located in South Bend, Indiana).

Past and Present Artists

Atlanta and Chicago Divisions

Old Head Records Atlanta and Old Head Records Chicago both began with a sole artist in each region. In Atlanta, the artist known today as Yokane (formerly Yok@non) was the local artist who partnered with the founder in 1999 to officially start the record label in Griffin, Georgia. Upon relocating to South Bend, Indiana in 2003, the founder met Heron DeGzus (formerly Heron DeJesus) who was raised in Chicago and Benton Harbor, Michigan but resided in South Bend at the time.

From the very beginning, the label and its founding artists have been working tirelessly to produce music that appeals to a broad audience. Based on our current catalog of songs, we feel confident that the goal has been achieved. The music available on this site and supporting social networks is only a small sample of what we have in our arsenal. Stay connected to www.oldheadrecords.com and continue to follow us as we work to give you a lot of what you want and a bit of what you need. We pledge to meet and exceed your expectations in the coming years!
To learn more about the past and present artists in each region, continue to explore this website or visit us on facebook, myspace or twitter (under construction).

OldHead 2011 - Goin' Hard or Goin' Home

After ten years in the music and entertainment industry, Old Head Records vows to go hard and successfully ink major label deals for the label and its artists or go home, hang up the battle gear and call it quits. However, quiting is not an option! The investment of time, money and perspiration makes it impossible to walk away empty handed. So suit-up, strap up ya boots and prepare to ride as we steamroll our way into the music industry. We now declare: "2011 - The Year of OLD HEAD! So mote it be!

OldHead2010 til Infinity

OldHead2010 til Infinity was the battle hymn established for the 2010 re-mobilization of both the Atlanta and Chicago divisions. Just as planned, artists from the Chicago Division made the long journey to Atlanta to begin working toward reaching established goals and objectives by the end of the year. Unfortunately, the effort was plagued by a number of outside influences that ultimately left the effort crestfallen. The integrity of the team was so severely compromised that it left the push toward Infinity in critical condition andon life support.

The bond that has held the label together throughout the 2010 year is the OldHead R.A.D.I.Yo Program, which was established on a local Griffin, Georgia radio station: WHIE 1320AM. From the inception of the show on March 19, 2010 to final show of the year in October 2010, the lines of communication remained open long enough for the label to regroup and commit to one final year toward the goal of infinite success in the music and entertainment industry. All hands in...the team is certain to breakthrough in 2011!
